Treatment: Trypanosomiasis has the potential to be fatal. The treatment differs in the stage of the disease. The drugs used in the 1st stage is safer and easier to administer than the drugs than the 2nd stage. 1st stage treatment:

Prevention: There are no vaccines for Trypanosomiasis. Have minimum contact with tsetse flies as they are the vectors of this disease.If you know that you are going to a place with alot of tsetse flies avoid getting bitten by wearing long sleeves, avoiding bushes,etc. If you suspect that you were bitten by a tsetse fly or believe that you have gotten Trypanosomiasis go get medical attention immediately.
